A modern-day elopement that feels like an old-time story. It began in Carver, Minnesota in a small cafe, with big hair curlers and Diet Coke, painting the perfect color on her lips. He packed the suitcase and filled the tank with gas. It was a slow and peaceful day. With no one else around, they made the sweetest promises and danced until the sun was well set. The night ended with slow dances lit by candles, small snacks and wine, complete with driving off in the moonlight, to their destination somewhere, wherever they'll be, they are together.
The real story is that this beautiful day was set in Carver, Minnesota, curated to perfection by Maija Lunde. A small group of us photographers sought to capture unforgettable moments built on a sweet story about two lovers on a getaway mission to marriage. This small town, a little more than 30 minutes from Minneapolis, is the perfect setting to tell this story. As a photographer who specializes in 35mm film photography, the historic energy of Carver is my dream: old brick buildings and a fully in-tact retro gas station. The Getaway Motor Cafe is set in the Historic Downtown of Carver, MN and was such a perfect venue for creating this bold, fun, vintage-inspired elopement photoshoot. Experiences like this, getting to be creative and connect with other artists, is why I love being a photographer so much. We all have this drive to create something new, something inspiring, something beautiful. Community is irreplaceable and I feel lucky to be part of the photographer community. I hope to create art like this at a future elopement with a couple really getting married! This is art that will last a lifetime.
